Logo, Stationery & Website
Sydney Funk Collective is a versatile function band that provides live music for weddings and corporate events. Having worked on the original branding and website back in 2009, the director of the company Gary Johns contacted me to upgrade their site. This request came about as a result of emerging web technologies and the movement towards mobile Internet browsing. The client also wanted to focus on improving organic search results by moving to WordPress and running/managing a blog.
Working closely with my client I re-designed the graphic user interface, converted the files to a W3C HTML/CSS compliant website and integrated a custom WordPress theme. One of the main challenges involved with this project was outputting audio files using HTML5 so that they could be played in multiple browsers and on a range of devices. I found a solution for this in the form of a plugin called Media Element. Another plugin that I used on the Sydney Funk Collective upgrade is Fancybox for WordPress. It is essentially a replacement for the traditional Lightbox but works with images, video, HTML and iFrames. It also integrates seamlessly with WordPress making it much easier for clients to manage and update. For those designers that are interested the custom @font-face typeface used for the logo/navigation is 101 Star Studded and for the main headings, Code Bold.
